The students will spend three weeks on the General Surgical Service, three weeks in the Emergency Department, one week on Anesthesia, one week on elective, two weeks in Orthopedics, one week in Ear, Nose and Throat and one week in Urology while on the General Surgical Service. The students will be involved under supervision with the pre-operative evaluation, the intra-operative management and the post-operative care of the surgical patients. In all areas of this rotation, the students will participate in outpatient assessment and management. In the Emergency Department, the students will become active members of the Emergency Department Surgical Team and will see Surgical patients with supervision provided by the residents and physician staff. The experience will be supplemented by frequent tutorial sessions with the Core Director, as well as didactic sessions offered throughout the week.
