Core Subinternship in Medicine

Description:
During the 1-month clerkship, students are assigned to a medical service team at BWH and will work directly with the residents, who will assign patients, and the senior attending staff, who will supervise cases. Students will be given a large share of the responsibility for case management. Depending on experience and capability, students will be expected to perform tasks normally carried out by interns. Conferences emphasize pathophysiology, clinical diagnoses, and management of clinical problems. Student's carryout procedures required of their patients, under supervision of the resident. All students evaluated by attending physicians or the housestaff. The criteria for evaluation include clinical knowledge and skills in history taking, physical examinations, and differential diagnoses, among others. In addition, learning skills and standard of professional conduct and responsibility will form important components of the evaluations.
